Sorted. Bumper and steering guard it is!

On the last Sunday of every second month I invariably head North for an hour to a place called FarX4 in the Scottish borders to run the Defender through its paces across terrain it was built for. Some of the rockier trails require underbody protection of which, apart from a reinforced chassis and heavy duty steering rods, I have none. As such I stick to the more pedestrian routes.

As I have some monies to spend, I would like to buy one of these bumpers with a built in bash plate, and a separate steel steering guard to look after the steering gubbins so that I can actually take the rockier courses without fear of damaging my primary work vehicle. This will actually lighten and lift the nose as my current setup consists of the reinforced military tow pin bumper and a set of heavy steel chav crushers. Further nose weight reduction can be done my moving the bonnet wheel to the bed before setting off. Unladen, the rear sits 4” higher than the front due to HD rear suspension, so my fuel tank is fairly well clear of any trouble. This setup may only be used for off-roading, so I really don’t care if it gets bashed about a bit.

My other option is something completely unrelated. BEWARE: Computer stuff. If uninterested, vote Land Rover parts ^

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

My 8800GTX’s are ailing now with current gen games. They’ve served me very well for 8 years, quite impressive to still be capable after that length of time in technology.

Kinja'd!!!

With Fallout 4 announced (yes, I’m aware it’s hardly graphically taxing) I want to take the plunge on a 970GTX, not only to better any new games, but also crank up my older games that I’m still battling through. For my work I do a surprising amount of 3D rendering and video creation, so a by product of a better card may well be quicker rendering times and less time masturbating procrastinating. I really enjoy gaming, but rarely get a good chunk of time to be able to play unless it’s a weekend and the missus is out.

I’m in a genuine quandary as to where I spend my money. I don’t need either, but I would like both.

Vehicle or electronics?

Vehicle, a bumper will never be outdated.

I just had the same dilemna, i chose Disco parts over building a new desktop. I have been using the same laptop as a media center/gaming device (its an ASUS laptop) since 2008.

MAke sure you MOBO is PCIe 3.0 compliant otherwise getting the 9xx series card will do you no good as the bottleneck will be the same at the CPU/southbridge.

The board is PCIe 2.0, but I didn’t think any single GPU could max out a 2.0 x16 slot yet? If it helps, it’s a P6T Deluxe V2 with i7-965 and 12GB triple channel ddr3 2000

We have similar systems, I’m on a i7-990x black with 12GB DDR3 and a radeon 4890. Ive been hunting for a deal on a beefier GPU for awhile too, for my work machine but I didn’t think my board was compatible with new gen PCI 3 gpus

As far as I’m aware you can use a single 3.0 on any 2.0 x16 board with no issues whatsoever. Then, depending on the board, if you were to run SLI or Xfire using the same components you could expect a 5-10% performance loss over using a 3.0 board. Supposedly. I might just buy it and firefight later if I encounter issues.

Bumper. Get the first one without the hoop.

There, that was easy!

Well, I see it as this. The longer you wait the cheaper a 970 gets, maybe wait until the release date gets closer and that way the 970 should be cheaper.

I’m waiting for GPU’s to get a little cheaper before I upgrade my GTX 560.

The bits for your Land Rover will help prevent future damage so you’ll actually save monies in the long run. At least, that’s how I like to think of upgrades to my Land Rover.

Yeh that’s the one I’d go for, their website only shows the a-bar version though :)

Prevention is better than the cure! OK I think I’m sorted. Everything (and everyone) has pointed to vehicular hardware. Funny that, considering it’s Oppo.
